Temelín nuclear power plant
We built Temelín NPP; now we are the general contractor for maintenance of the primary circuit
The Temelín nuclear power plant was constructed in 1991-2003. At two units, fitted with VVER 1000-type reactors produced by ŠKODA JS, we participated in the role of final supplier of the primary circuit and the fuel-handling part. Over the years, we have performed regular in-service inspections of the reactor pressure vessel, main coolant piping loop, heat exchanging tubes of steam generators, exchangers and coolers. Since 2008, we have acted as the general contractor for repairs and maintenance of the Reactor Building Logical Unit.
Unique repairs, equipment of our own design, new casks: ŠKODA JS as a strategic partner of ČEZ, a. s.
In 2012-2015, we executed the Non-unit I&C System Refurbishment at both units of the Temelín NPP. In 2016, we performed a unique repair of the heterogeneous weld joint on the hot leg of the main coolant piping loop. We executed the project in its entirety, including the preparation stage, trials, calculations, removal of the faulty weld joint, making the new weld joint, and performance of the final NDT tests.
In 2014, we supplied other equipment of our own design to the Temelín power plant – equipment for the removal, transport and disposal of neutron flux sensors and thermocouples from the VVER 1000 reactor. For this equipment, designed by ŠKODA JS, we received the highest award in the Quality Innovation Award competition.
In 2014, we won the tender for the delivery of spent nuclear fuel casks, specifically the ŠKODA 1000/19 cask of our own design, for the Temelín NPP in 2018-2035. The first cask produced by ŠKODA JS was delivered to the power plant at the end of 2018. The final tests of the first supplied cask prior to its full operation are currently being performed directly at the power plant. Temelín NPP has already received a second cask and several more are in various stages of production.
Apart from the standard scope of service activities during Temelín NPP’s planned outages in 2018, we performed the disassembly and reassembly of the reactor for refueling, including the disassembly of selected linear step drives for the performance of inspections and replacement of ionization chambers, inspections of the steam generator, repairs of weld joints, and testing and optimization of equipment of ŠKODA JS’s own design, the so-called POMA, used for cutting material ampoules at selected clusters of the reactor core.
